Sam O'Brien, BA
Senior Doctoral Student

Hello! My name is Sam, and I am a 4th year PsyD student in Clinical Psychology at Adler University. I am passionate about working authentically and collaboratively with clients to enhance their mental health, well-being, and life satisfaction. I enjoy utilizing an intersectional, holistic approach that considers one’s diverse identities and strengths. Ultimately, I aspire to help clients become the best, most fulfilled version of themselves.

During my practicum training at North Shore CBT, I am excited to provide psychological assessments and counselling services. For assessments, I primarily provide psycho-educational assessments for youth (7+) and adults. These assessments help identify your strengths and weaknesses and provide relevant recommendations to achieve your academic and personal potential. For counselling, I enjoy working with  youth (14+), young adults, and adults on various mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and relationship challenges.

I am being trained in the following approaches:

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

Mindfulness-Based Techniques

Person-Centered Therapy

Psycho-Educational Assessment

Psycho-Diagnostic Assessment

When I’m not working, I am likely practicing yoga or frolicking in the mountains -

trail running, mountain biking, or snowboarding!

I am training under the supervision of Dr. Jennifer Campbell, RPsych
